Named after Lord Wakefield, whom provided the trophy for the original Wakefield competition in 1928. Our model was designed by Richard Morgan of Windsor Ontario, Canada in 1939. The prototype weighed 8 oz. and flew for 28 minutes! Eligible for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) contests.

This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size CAD drawn rolled plan, laser cut balsa parts, hand picked color coded balsa strip wood, FAI rubber motor, 12″ E-B propeller, EBM thrust bearing, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels, wire, aluminum tube, and Easy Built Lite tissue in a variety of bright colors. To build this model you will need a building board set, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, and glue.

“The model is basically to plan with the optional fuselage cross bracing and some extra bracing at the wing dihedrals, tail tips and nose. The covering was attached with a UHU glue stick, water shrunk and covered with acrylic lacquer. Awaiting a quiet day for the test flight. “Attached are the pictures of my Easy Built Model’s “Wakefield”. 14 strands, 30″ long motor of 3/16″ rubber motivates the 18″ diameter balsa free wheeling propeller (folding prop is being installed at the time of this writing). It is a very nicely flying model indeed. As you can see, the flying field here in California is rather dry and rough so the landing gear is made of 1/16″ wire to make the landings nice and smooth.
