This flying model was designed by Speed Robertson and engineered by Reginald Denny. It qualifies for 4 Flying Aces Club events: Jimmie Allen, Old Time Rubber, Old Time Two-Bit Rubber, and Embryo. Pre-1942 design, eligible for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) contests.
This free flight rubber powered model airplane kit includes a full-size rolled plan, laser cut balsa parts and hand-picked balsa strip wood, Easy Built Lite tissue in a variety of bright colors, FAI rubber motor, E-B propeller, EBM thrust bearing, wheels, wire, clear plastic for the windshield, and 1 pair of Jimmie Allen TissueCal™ markings. To build this model you will need a building board, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, and glue.

“Just a quick note to let you know what an enjoyable experience building the Jimmie Allen Special was. Being my first experience with tissue covering and having spent the last 10 years of my career as an auto CAD draftman I scaled it up to a 30 inch wingspan. I’m not new to modeling and have 4 WWI quarter scale airplanes under my belt. … I used Minwax clear [to seal the tissue]. I was real happy with the results as it brushed on like dope and doesn’t contribute to any shrinkage. I flew my Jimmie Allen Special yesterday. It flew like a champ. It was a bit windy so I’m only up to 300 winds.
