The Taylor Cub was designed by C. Gilbert Taylor, first flown in September 1930. It was the precursor to the Piper Cub. This kit is a 1:23 scale, flying model. This pre-1942 design is eligible for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) contests.
This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size rolled plan, LASER CUT balsa parts and hand-picked balsa strip wood, rubber motor, E-B propeller, EBM thrust bearing, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels, landing gear wire, and Easy Built Lite tissue in a variety of appropriate colors. To build this model you will need a building board, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, pliers and glue.

“Home made balsa wheels, 1/32″ sheeting around nose area. Landing gear bungies are heat shrink tubing over balsa sticks. I found a picture on the internet of an actual J-2, printed it, and mirror imaged the picture to obtain one left and one right cylinder/stack combo. I cut those out of the pics, glued them to 1/16″ balsa sheet, then onto some dummy balsa cylinders. Looks real. I had to add a bit of nose weight to balance it out, but it flies very well.” – Dave Hable
