The Jimmie Allen Skokie is one of the most victorious model airplanes on the market. This plane, also known as the B-A Cabin is an Easy Built Models Company original and produced by us since 1938. Made for the British American Oil Company Ltd. as a Jimmie Allen official contest plane. Also spelled Jimmy Allen, it was designed by “Speed” Robertson. It won first place at the Flying Aces Club 1999 Outdoor Champs. This pre-1942 design is eligible for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) contests.
This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size rolled plan, laser cut balsa parts and hand-sorted balsa strip wood, rubber motor, 10″ EB propeller, EBM thrust bearing, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels, landing gear wire, Easy Built Lite tissue in a variety of bright colors, and 1 pair of Jimmie Allen TissueCal™ markings. To build this model you will need a building board, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, and glue.

“This was an enjoyable kit to put together. I modified the rear end to enable a D/T flip up tail section. This meant making the stab in one piece with a central spar. Note: The spar was made of a 1/16″ sq. piece of basswood for extra strength and runs across the whole stab. (I read somewhere that basswood is about 22-24 lb per cubic foot density compared to most of my plane being made of around 8# balsa. Despite this I still believe it is worth the weight trade off. To help with the green/yellow transition, I extended a 1/16″ stringer aft of the cabin along the length of the fuselage midway down. Again the extra weight was IMO worth it in terms of the ease of installation of the tissue and as a result—a clean, crisp and straight line. I’m starting to get better at carving props and if you will look closely, there is a piece of 1/16″ plywood that was placed there in a slot and CA’d in place. I’m hoping now that my props won’t break as easily as before. Total weight of the plane is 66g without the motor. Fuselage with D/T system is 35g, Prop and nose piece is 10.8g, Tail group is 5.42g and Wing comes in at 14.52g. Hope you like my Skokie. I have yet to be able be able to get it out to trim. “This is the Skokie. It was a fun airplane to build. I did change the stab – on the plans it showed it being 2 piece and just glued to the side of the fuse. We fly in a field that has a lot of stuff to run into and I was afraid that it would not be strong enough so I simply made it one piece and glued it to the top of the fuse. Right now it is powered by 6 strands of 1/8, 20″ long. We have only got one flight on it with hand winds but it looks realy good. I think it will work out to be a great flyer plus we really like the outline of this model.” – Mike Breen
